We picked out a pumpkin for pumpkin carving at scouts tomorrow. I absolutely love this picture (even if it was taken with my cell phone).

My favorite Halloween candy (Mary Jane Peanut Butter Kisses, which are getting to be hard to find) in my cute new pumpkin jar from Target. I've wanted one for ages, so when I found it on sale for less than $5, I just had to have it.

Not funny! The lights in my "quadrant" of the floor were out when I got in this morning. I had no idea where the switch was, so I called corporate security, who directed me to building maintenance. My call was answered by someone who is also new, so he didn't know where the switch was either. They had to dispatch a maintenance guy just to show me where the switch is! I'd hate to be bored at work already.

DH took me to the Bank of America cafeteria for lunch today. This beautiful fall foliage met us on our way out. Not sure about the sculpture.

DH picked up his replacement hardhat and vest today (they changed designs a few years ago, and his old vest no longer meets regulations). Luke was playing with them in the back seat on the way home, so we grabbed a quick picture.

Another beautiful view from my new work location, this time via the north window just after sunrise.

Never really got what I wanted out of this picture. The wispy fronds on these were beautiful, but with my cell phone, I couldn't get a good shot of them. Then, I thought I'd try for a shot showing the motion of these in the heavy winds, but I never really got that either. Not a bad picture, just not what I intended.

Oven Fried Chicken. This recipe was okay. Fairly moist, just need to tweak the spices more to our tastes. No matter what anyone says, though, it's just not as good as real fried chicken.

First day at my new job! Sure has one heck of a view. That's DH's office building in the bottom right.

More pretty fall foliage, and I'm quite happy with the depth of field on this image, too, especially considering these leaves were a good 10 feet above my head.

The main cluster of this tangled web is about the size of a baseball. It looked amazing in the sunlight this afternoon.

Why yes, this is the same three way mirror from the other day. DH tried on several styles of pants, found the type he liked and the size, then bought several of the same style and size in different colors, without trying on the other colors. You guessed it, none of the other colors fit right, only the one pair he tried on. So we came back to swap them out (and try them on before buying!). Luke thinks doing homework while Daddy shops is MUCH less fun than playing his DS. Gee, go figure.

Okay, I know this is a bit of an odd picture, but it is representative of my relief at finally having a job after 6 months of unemployment (I'll start one day this week). Normally, when we eat spaghetti, I only make 1/2 a box of pasta (about 8 oz). And inevitably, we end up a bit short on noodles, so I'd have to make one extra serving after the fact. Tonight? I made the whole box! And you know what, it was worth throwing away 50 cents worth of noodles to finally feel like we could eat what we wanted without having to stress about the money. I probably won't do it again; I hate wasting both food and money, even if it is just 50 cents. But for one night, it was glorious!
