Overall, today's beach trip was a total bust. It was low tide or lay tide, there were no waves at all (I don't remember the last time I saw the ocean so flat), there was no breeze, and it was blue-blazin' hot! There were also these little tiny shells everywhere, maybe 5-6 mm wide, and they hurt to walk on. Here, you can clearly see the line where the tide came in and left them behind. There were 3 different "rows" of these on the way down to the water's edge. I don't remember seeing anything like that before.
