December 2009 Mosaic

Wow, is it really over? I am amazed! I'll recap the overall experience later, but for right now, I present to you, the final fill photos of my Project 365. Thank you all for following along with me! It has certainly been an adventure.

My parents came and stayed with Luke during the funeral and after so that DH and I could have maximum freedom with our schedule. (Are my parents awesome or what?) When we came in late that night after the post burial family gathering, we found Luke asleep like this. How could I not take a picture?

Luke, goofing around at a restaurant with the plastic straw covering. This is another case where I thought this was going to be the picture of the day for December 7, until my laptop died.

This was Luke's first LEGO Advent set for the year, and he put it together all by himself using only the picture of the finished product that was provided. He was so proud of himself! (So were we.)

This set of wise men is one of my most prized possessions. My late grandmother made them from empty beer bottles. I think all of her children and grandchildren eventually had a set, but these were actually hers. I took them in after she passed, and I found the box just as I was starting to decorate for Christmas, so I put out her set instead of mine. They make me smile whenever I see them.

The last moment of 2009. (I did take a real time photo, but it was very badly exposed, so I backed it up on the DVR and took this one just a few seconds after midnight.) Happy New Year everyone! What a journey this has been, in more ways than one.

Decided to try something new before the year is up, McDonald's Hot Chocolate. Not as good as Starbucks (also not as expensive), but much better than Panera.

I seem to have acquired Dad's cold, which I tolerated for 3 days. I can handle stuffy and/or runny nose and head congestion. However, I have been hemorrhaging health units as today has progressed: coughing, tightness in my chest, and a stopped up sore inner right ear, all coming on rapidly since I woke up this morning. That usually means I am about 2-3 days away from bronchitis and an ear infection. My regular doctor is not in, but the new guy could see me today, so I went. I'd really rather not ring in the new year sick.

I loved that he didn't pick it up to look closely at one of his new toys. He left it right on the ground and laid down to look inside. Merry Christmas!!

Yay!! My new rugs arrived today. Finally, something to dampen the echo and comfort the bones on the hard floors. This is the one in the den. I promise a photo of the dining room rug later.

Luke in his new Christmas shirt. He wore it all day, to two different parties, and I didn't manage to take a single photo of him wearing it until right before bed.

Merry Christmas to us, the house is now, finally, officially on the market! Keep your fingers crossed for a quick sale (ha ha).

In case you've ever wondered, *this* is what $300 worth of groceries looks like, and amazingly, it still fits in one cart.

This beautiful globe ornament was a gift from my friend Charisse, but it's not going on the tree. It will live in my new kitchen window on the lovely glass shelves the previous owners installed. Thank you!

Ah, much better! Finally have some decorations up, and a new fireplace screen. Funny how much less junky that makes it look than the boxes we previously had there.

Luke's first milkshake! White, of course (he only likes "white" ice cream), from Steak 'n Shake. It's the first time I've been able to get him to try one. He didn't seem impressed.

I thought I was going to have a goofy photo of Luke to post today. Instead, I give you the battery release and the empty battery compartment of my laptop, which decided to pick this evening to stop working. Did I mention I had not backed it up since we moved? Yeah. Not at all happy right now.

Oh, the great decisions in life: what song to pick from Daddy's cell phone/MP3 player. He can't really read yet, but he does recognize certain words (like, oh gee, Star Wars).

Our first (and currently only) Christmas decoration, and Luke won't even get to see it until we get back from the funeral, but I definitely wanted it to be up and ready when we get home.

Missed another day. Spent most of it preparing for a funeral this weekend. I noticed the base of Luke's nightstand today for the first time yesterday. What do you see? (Most people I've asked see either the Gummi Bears symbol or a Winnie the Pooh silhouette.)

Trying to get the old house spic and span so we can list it for sale. Luke loves this fuzzy dust thing, so we let him "help."

November 2009 Mosaic

Click to biggify. Created using Big Huge Labs Mosaic Maker.

November was a very long and difficult month, and I missed more photos this month than ever before (3, I think). I hope December will be better. Almost there!

I loved the photo of Luke with R2-D2 too much for that not to be the picture of the day on November 2. I also took a bunch of in-concert photos. It was hard to decide, but this one is the clearest about what we were doing there.

Motorcycles and helicopters. I see it, do you?

We had the television pulled away from the wall at the new house, and I noticed the reflection of the glorious fall day. Since it was pulled out to allow the cable guy access to the wall, I'm glad it was still "showing" something pretty.

As I mentioned, I spent all of our family Thanksgiving meal passing a kidney stone. The process makes me sick to my stomach, so even when I was done, *this* was my Thanksgiving meal. Exciting, no? I did get to eat a real Thanksgiving meal later that evening, once I decided I was up to it.

Kitty, the Thinker.

2009-11-30

This is Luke's "little piggy" that I accidentally slammed in this very car door (right about there, in fact) yesterday as we were leaving my parents' house. If you look carefully at the base of his thumb, you can see the whitish-purple bruise. Thankfully, it is not broken, just sore.

On the road again, back home to Atlanta. Most of the drive looks either like this, or is just swaths of asphalt through a forest, often pretty, always boring after a while.

WANT!!! They had a whole series of movie-related 3D and 2D art at Bed, Bath, and Beyond today. They would go perfectly in our yet-to-be created home theater in the new basement. This particular piece is one that I had pictured in my mind, and here it sits physically on a store shelf.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope yours was better than mine. I spent all of our large family meal on the floor in the bathroom passing a kidney stone, yet I somehow still managed not to overly resemble death warmed over in this photo.

Missed a photo today while driving to my parents' house. This one from yesterday will have to suffice. This is the *beautiful* house warming gift our agent gave us yesterday. I absolutely love it! I can't wait to fill it with pictures and get it hung. Thanks, Jayme!

I guess the stove is now officially christened as mine. It has received it's first sprinkling of Rice Krispies falling out of the pot while stirring them into the melted marshmallows during the making Rice Krispy Treats.
